That's how much time I shaved off my last 5K.
Today's run: 28:52 (although I swear, I thought it was 28:50). Remember, I ran the last 5K in 30:13 (5th place in my age category today...I swear, nobody runs in DE!).
Not bad...I've only gone jogging once in the last two weeks, and only for 15 minutes at that. Looks like the bikes are actually helping me get into shape!
Speaking of..I will have to post a picture soon, but I LOVE my bike! We've had the bikes for a week and I've managed to ride 4 times already. The last two rides have been in the neighborhood since I'm not comfortable with the busier roads.
For the holidays I bought Ryan a GPS watch that tells you how far you've ran/biked and gives speeds, HR, etc. It looks like it came from Inspector Gadget's closet and I find running with it to be cumbersome, but biking with it is great! So far I'm averaging about 8 1/2 miles in 35 minutes. it's a lot more fun biking 8 miles in 30something minutes that it is to run 3 miles in 30 minutes!

Another Run!
Today. At 11:00 (which is pretty late for a 5K).
This one is is a Buddy Walk/Buddy Run for Down Syndrome.
Last minute-I haven't even registered. And the last time I ran 3miles was a few weeks ago (that one was for stroke awareness)....
Let's hope for a better time, even if I don't place-and no rain! :)

Update...
Seems like I never have somethign to write about on this, but so much has been going on!
One more exam this week and one more (hopefully finally) lab test out for school. Then next week is another exam. Finals start next Friday. Wish me lots of luck. I still can't believe I'm still in...
Saturday: Car shopping. This has put me in crisis mode. I love my car. It's supposed to last 2 more years (I got it in 2000). Otherwise, i think it's kind of frivolous to get a new car. Plus I'm in school...why can't the car last through the rest of the program?? Fingers crossed it will....but the crisis!
I like to keep cars around for a it to while. So here's the dilemma. If I'm a 10 year car person, I probably need something adult/familyish. But the thought of a 4 door car made me crige. I only test drove it to give it a chance-for Ryan's sake...
I sat in it. Eh. did nothing. I tried to drive it. And was SWEATING because I felt so uncomfortable. But then a funny thing. I got the seat in the right position. I kind of liked it. a lot. as in, it's probably on the top of my list.
does this mean I'm growing up or growing old?
Other news: BIKES! We finally picked up our road bikes and went riding along side speeding cars. Definitely time to get that will written up. Just after I get the 4 door car...

Winners
So everything I said in the previous post?
Scratch it.
there were only about 60 people at the race. In fact, it was such a small run that we almost missed it.
Ryan ran at the front of the pack. Ryan smoked the trail and came in around 21 something! A classmate who came along came in after that. And then I FINALLY crossed the finish line. It took me 30:13.
I don't know if I've ever run a 5K organized run over 30 min. Still, slightly under or just at a 10 minute mile I think, AND considering I haven't been able to keep up with any sort of exercise routine, not too shabby.
Once we all hit mile two, it was up hill and AGAINST wind. Aye. I started chatting with another runner, which probably made me super tired. I tried to keep up with her for the last tenth of the race, but she was took off so fast! I was trying so hard to keep up/pass her that I thought I was going to roll across the finish.
Afterwards it was typical chatting, eating, drinking (water).
Then the awards.
They got to male, 19-29...first place, second place, runner up, Ryan ___
YAY!! We all clapped.
then it was female, 19-29. First place, Rachel ___
HAHA! No way! Really?
That's CRAZY! 1st with 30:13?
We each got a little medal and I scored a $25 gift card to a restaurant.
OH, and my classmate also won runner up for his age category. It was a win-derful day!
Best reason to run small races: Everyone's a winner :)
I'll try and post a link of photos later...check back!

And Coming in Last Place...
Ryan & I are running a 5K today.
The last time I ran an organized run was the Midnight New Years 4mi run in NYC-in December/January.
Between then and now, I don't think I've ran more than 2 miles once.
Maybe I can imagine all those people who crossed the finish line are waiting for me. My own paparazzi.

So Much to Say...
So there was a horrible test in my maternity test a week or so ago.
So horrible.
I wanted to cry again.
But I ended up with a higher score when compared to the first exam.
Maternity is one of those classes where the teachers (professor & lab instructor) talk and all I hear is, "rwar, rwar, rwar" a la Charlie Brown's teacher.
Then there was the wedding in Annapollis (sp), which was really pretty, except I felt super uncomfortable because all I wanted/needed was a pair of Spanx and there was no time to run into the mall. And to make it worse, I needed the spanx for the butt area. Clingy jersey dress with no spanx? NO THANKS!
then Yesterday was a pharm exam, which every one feels OK about, except (wait for it), I think (again) I didn't do so well.
This no-confidence in school thing is getting old.
Oh...and, yes there will be a blog about this: I went to a chairpersons committee meeting for the spouse group last night. Don't ask why (or more importantly, how), I got on the committee (much less the CHAIRPERSON). If the brain (what little is left) is still working this afternoon, I will share my stories.
If not, here's what lies ahead:
Saturday: 5K (should be interesting. the last time I ran 3 miles was 6 weeks ago. I've fallen off all bandwagons lately..no running, no studying, no blogging...
Saturday cont: study
Sunday: Study
Monday: class...& quiz
Tuesday: Med Surg 2: exam3
Wednesday: Test out
Thursday: Test out & Test Out
Classes are wrapping up and there's a lot of exams in the next 4 weeks. Trying to keep in sane.
